A century ago on November 4, 1899, a new book by a young scientist
named Sigmund Freud hit Vienna bookstores. Die Traumdeitung
(The Interpretation of Dreams) was not an overnight success:
600 copies sold in eight years. In commemoration of the book's
publication we've asked poets, painters, photographers, and
musicians to participate in this series "DreamLives,"
remembering Freud's thought that "dream interpretation is
the royal road to a knowledge of the unconscious activities
of the mind." We'll publish this series frequently for the
next few months.
