Chasing the Dream: Youth Faces of the Millennium Development Goals

Including an opening gala on International Youth Day, August 12, 2005, attended by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, his wife Nane Annan and UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNFPA Thoraya Obaid, with a special musical performance by Roberta Flack. In addition, two of the youth featured in the photographs, Jason and Urideia, traveled to New York from Jamaica and Brazil respectively to attend the opening gala and share their stories in person.

Since they could not handle a fine art exhibition that requires a gallery space, insurance, art handlers etc. and they had limited funds, we sent them the exhibition in the form of electronic files on CD’s via an international courier. The images and texts were printed locally in Cairo, and displayed locally in public spaces and outdoors to encourage parents to vaccinate their children.
