In World War II, Yugoslavia was occupied by Germany, Italy and other pro-Axis forces. In a 1943 photo received from "neutral sources" and passed by Allied military censors, Nazi soldiers in Croatia guarded Yugoslav fighters who surrendered after their ammunition ran out.
