Andrew
Tshabangu a native of Soweto, South
Africa, began studying photography in 1990 at the Alexandra Community
Art Center in Johannesburg. He has taught workshops such as the
Homeless World, working with street children around Johannesburg.
Tshabangu’s photographs have been exhibited in “Artist
From the Rainbow Nation,” in Germany, “Translation/Seduction/Displacement,”
in New York, and most recently the “Capetown Townmonth of
Photography” at Everead Gallery. He has also contributed to
books including A Bigger Picture: A Manual of Photojournalism in
Southern Africa. Tshabangu’s most recent project, a collaboration
with Rene-Paul Savignan, concerns spirituality in both South Africa
and Reunion Island. |
